HERMANSKY-PUDLAK SYNDROME NETWORK

The Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome Network Inc. was founded by a mother (Donna Appell) whose daughter was diagnosed with this very rare disease. With no information, research or resources the HPS network was founded in 1992. HPS is a genetic metabolic disorder which causes albinism, visual impairment, and a platelet dysfunction with prolonged bleeding. In some types of HPS progression can include an inflammatory bowel disease and lung disease. Our mission is to gather and disseminate information, to promote awareness, fund and facilitate research and to provide support to our members who are living with this complex rare disease. Most importantly we provide hope to families on our journey to find a cure.
